Carapace

This woman wears a carapace, that fits her like a second skin.  Various elements can be solidified into tangible matter through sorcery.  Powerful emotions, or rare substances with arcane properties can manifest themselves physically by the will of the user.  Depending on their nature, this dermal armor can be incredibly powerful or impenetrable, possibly allowing the user to survive in inhospitable conditions.  When spirits take on physical form, it is by a similar process, condensing energies to the point that it manifests into a actual body, like carbon being crushed into a diamond.



Here is the sketch.  At some point i put packing tape over it to protect it, i can't remember why.  I sprayed clearcoat over it until it would accept paint, and later sealed it.  You can still see the seams in the different layers of tape.
